PMO Essentials I
What You Will Learn in the PMO Essentials Course
PMO Essentials is designed to give you a complete and practical introduction to the PMO domain. It covers all key PMO areas and helps you understand not just what a PMO does, but why it matters and how it works in real organizations.
During the course, you will learn how PMOs support projects, programs, and portfolios, and how they create structure, transparency, and control without unnecessary bureaucracy. You will gain a clear understanding of core PMO concepts such as governance, roles and responsibilities, standards and processes, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
You will explore how a PMO operates at different maturity levels, from a supportive PMO that provides templates and guidance to a more controlling or directive PMO that actively governs delivery. The course also explains how PMOs align projects with strategy, manage resources and priorities, and support decision-making at management level.
PMO Essentials goes beyond theory. You will learn how to apply PMO practices in day-to-day work, recognize common pitfalls, and understand what makes a PMO effective in different organizational contexts. Short, focused learning Nuggets and quizzes help you build knowledge step by step and immediately test your understanding.
By the end of the course, you will have a solid foundation in all major PMO areas and the confidence to start or grow your career in a PMO role, or to work effectively with a PMO in your organization.

Lean and Agile principles
This course introduces you to the core principles of Lean and Agile, not as rigid methods or checklists, but as ways of thinking about work, flow, and value creation. It is designed to help you understand why these principles work, when they apply, and how to use them responsibly in real organizational contexts.
The course is based on the book written by Remco te Winkel, founder of PMO Mastery. Rather than offering abstract theory, the book—and this course—use storytelling to translate complex concepts into practical insights that are easy to recognize in everyday project, PMO, and portfolio environments.
Throughout the course, you will work through the complete content of the book, supported by animated summaries that clarify key ideas and make them easy to remember. These animations help you quickly grasp concepts such as flow, limiting work in progress, prioritization, feedback loops, and continuous improvement, without oversimplifying their meaning.
This course is especially suited for PMO professionals, project managers, and leaders who want to move beyond terminology and frameworks, and instead develop a deeper understanding of how Lean and Agile thinking can improve decision-making, reduce waste, and increase predictability. You will learn how these principles apply not only in software development, but also in broader organizational and portfolio contexts.
By the end of the course, you will not just know the main Lean and Agile principles—you will understand how to recognize them in practice, how to explain them to others, and how to apply them in a way that fits your organization rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all solution.

Theory of Constraints
This masterclass offers an in-depth exploration of the Theory of Constraints (ToC) and its practical application in project, program, and portfolio environments. It is designed for experienced PMO professionals who want to understand how flow, bottlenecks, and decision-making truly affect performance across an organization.
The Theory of Constraints was developed by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, an Israeli physicist turned management thinker. Goldratt introduced the theory in the 1980s, most famously through his business novel The Goal. His core insight was simple but powerful: in any system, there is always at least one constraint that limits overall performance. Improving anything other than that constraint will not significantly improve results.
In this masterclass, you will learn how ToC applies beyond manufacturing and into knowledge work, projects, and portfolios. You will explore concepts such as system throughput, bottlenecks, work-in-progress, and the impact of local optimization. Special attention is given to common PMO challenges such as overloaded teams, competing priorities, delayed decision-making, and projects that appear “busy” but fail to deliver real progress.
You will also learn how ToC connects to practical techniques used in modern PMO work, such as focusing on the few constraints that truly matter, improving flow across the organization, and supporting management with better prioritization and trade-off decisions. Realistic examples and scenarios show how ToC can be used to reduce lead times, increase predictability, and create alignment between strategy and execution.
By the end of this masterclass, you will not only understand the Theory of Constraints as a concept, but also know how to apply its principles in your daily PMO practice. You will be able to identify constraints, challenge ineffective metrics, and help organizations move from local efficiency to system-wide effectiveness.
